SCRIPTURE: PSALM 113:7-9 AND ACTS 2:44-47
He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash
heap, That He may seat him with princes— With the princes of His people. He
grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children. Praise
the Lord! Psalms 113:7-9
Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold
their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had
need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread
from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of
heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord
added to the church daily those who were being saved
This is a humanitarian arm of Christ Our Refuge and Salvation Ministries. The aim of this ministry is to help to alleviate poverty to the elderly people, and to former farm workers and their families around Zimbabwe, by establishing community help projects, and to provide education for their children and to lead them to Christ. This charity will fund children’s education from primary to secondary school with the aim of building schools. Starting with the former farm workers, at Three Sisters farm, where Evangelist Benua grew up, then to others farms in Zimbabwe, in accordance with Galatians 6:9-10.
This ministry is one that is very close to Evangelist Benua's Chiweshe heart. As a child who was born and raised on a farm herself, Evangelist Benua understands the hardships faced by children who grow up in farming communities, and this include health and education with the majority of them, having no education or having to travel long distances in order to access both health education. As a girl child who grew up on a farm she remembers most of her friends ending up in early marriages due to poverty. The ministry was founded with the aim of alleviating problems faced by children who grow up in the farming areas around Zimbabwe and to lead them to Christ. It is a blessing for Evangelist Benua to have had access to education despite the hardships she faced growing up on a farm. Evangelist Benua holds a Master of Science degree in International Health and a BA Honours Degree in Social Work. Evangelist Benua would like to thank the Lord for taking her this far, and credit is also given to her mother Envoy Mrs Musarara who was a driving force behind her achievements. The road was never easy for Evangelist Benua as she could go to school during term time, and during school holidays, she was employed to do manual labour on the farm, in order to help their mother raise school fees. After reflecting on her own life experience, Evangelist Benua saw the need to help Elderly people and other children, still living in farms around Zimbabwe, who still find it difficult to access education. Evangelist Benua's favourite proverb is “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself" Proverbs 11:25.
Evangelist Benua have learnt that, when we are giving we are not just giving to those who are in need, but we are doing a service to the Lord. According to Proverbs 19.17 “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed”. The Lord Jesus also taught us, about the importance of giving and what will happen to those who give when he comes back. “
“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:34-37
